Die internationale Marktposition in der kommerziellen Raumfahrt konnte weiter ausgebaut werden. Dank organischem und strategischem Wachstum operiert RUAG Space an zwölf Standorten in sechs Ländern – neu auch in Deutschland und in den USA.

Sowohl Umsatz als auch Profitabilität konnten 2016 gesteigert werden. Das Projekt zur Übernahme der vollständigen Supply-Chain-Verantwortung für zwei Airbus-Rumpfsektionen verlief erfolgreich. Gezielte Investitionen sichern ein nachhaltiges Wachstum.

Externe Faktoren führten 2016 zu einem Umsatzrückgang. Dennoch konnte ein höherer EBIT erzielt werden. Sehr positiv entwickelte sich das internationale Komponentengeschäft. Die Programme für die Schweizer Luftwaffe verliefen im geplanten Rahmen.

Die Division konnte sowohl den Umsatz als auch das operative Ergebnis (EBIT) markant steigern. Trotz Exportrestriktionen gelang damit eine deutliche Stärkung der internationalen Marktposition. Haupttreiber war einmal mehr das Jagd-und-Sport-Geschäft.

900 satellite structures for OneWeb

OneWeb is designed to provide broadband internet service worldwide using 648 satellites. Among other things, RUAG Space will manufacture 900 satellite structures to carry the other component assemblies for the project. This represents the biggest production series in satellite construction so far. RUAG had previously been awarded a contract by Arianespace to develop and manufacture "dispensers" for the same project. These dispensers enable up to 36 satellites to be placed in orbit with a single rocket launch.
